This month we are setting aside a Sunday to honor our elders. We are blessed to have them in our lives! These men and women have lived life that we have not. This is why they are able to give such insight as they do. I thank the Lord for their Godly example to those following in their path. Timothy 5:1-3 says, “Never speak harshly to an older man, but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father.... Treat older women as you would your mother,... Take care of any widow who has no one else to care for her.” The Apostle Paul was reminding a youthful Timothy on how to treat the elders in his life. We ought to do the same. As the pastor of these great men and woman, I can assure you that they are worthy of your honor and respect. They are the foundation and strength of our church. Elders, thank you for setting a high standard and continue to stay the course as we endeavor to make heaven our eternal home.
This month I will be teaching on prayer for our Wednesday night Bible studies. We are gearing up for revival services in the busy month of October. As always, be sensitive to opportunities the Lord presents to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord has ordered your steps to make an impact in the lives of people searching for a better way to live.
